Building A Life Which Enables You To Travel

Travel has long been one of the most popular topics on social media. People love to dream about seeing the world, though very few actually get to achieve their worldly goals, with normal life getting in the way of the adventures you have in mind. Of course, though, this is a shame, and it simply doesn’t have to be this way. If you take the right steps, you can build your life around travel, giving yourself the chance to see more and more of the world each year, even when you would’ve struggled to go on a single vacation in the past. This post is going to show you how to do it.

The Job

The job you have is one of the hardest parts of this. Most people work in roles which are situated in one place and don’t offer many chances to take days off. For some, enrolling on a course with a school like University of California-Riverside can make it possible to get a job which will give you the income and annual leave you need to be able to see the world will be the best option.

For others, though, looking for a role with flexible hours, loads of time off, and a variable work routine will be best. You need to find something which works for both your travel needs and your career aspirations.

The Home

The place you call home is something which people rarely connect to travel. If you’re spending a large part of the year away from home, though, it doesn’t make much sense to throw money into rent, as you won’t get anything out of it for your time away. Instead, it makes a lot more sense to look at buying a place for yourself. While you will still make mortgage payments, these won’t be wasted, as all of the money you put into this will go towards your ownership of the property.

It is also worth choosing a destination that is affordable to live in. I recommend that you either choose a destination where the cost of living is low, or find the cheapest places to live in your chosen destination. For example, if you are working in LA then you will want to check out the cheapest places to live in California.

It can be easy to ignore factors like this, but this can make it much easier to justify travelling.

The Family

Families with young children tend to find it a lot harder to travel than those who don’t, with little ones finding the process of travelling boring, and the items you have to carry with you being much more diverse when you have kids to care for. This can create a hard choice for those who want to see the world, with the time it takes to have children and get them into a position that they can fly on planes taking a long time. Of course, while your children are young, you could always consider leaving them with other people or choosing different transport methods for your travel.

The Partner

Solo travel can create loads of great adventures which are worth talking about, though few things are better than being able to share this part of your life with someone else. Finding someone who wants to see the world with you shouldn’t be too hard, though you may have to be willing to take the initiative if you’re going to see what you want to. A lot of people will share your dreams, but may not have the drive or determination to get on with it, and this means that you may have to push them to make bookings, take time off, and let themselves be free to enjoy their time off.

The Location

The location you call home can have a dramatic impact on your ability to travel freely. Being close to airports, train stations, and other transport hubs will shave huge parts of each journey, giving you the chance to spend more time adventuring and doing things you like. Along with this, there are a lot of places around the world which have plenty of sightseeing options nearby. For those with families or little time for travel, living in areas like this can open the doors to a lot of different travel options, all without disrupting your everyday life. This can give you enough time to develop the other parts of your life to make them better for travel.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to take on the challenge of building a life which enables you to travel. A lot of people struggle to go down this path, finding it tricky to get into roles or find a location which works for their travel dreams. Of course, though, this is well worth learning about and working on, with the benefits being appealing to almost anyone.
