3 Simple Ways Of Making Your Home Pregnancy-Friendly

If you’re expecting, you’ll begin to realize how unsuitable your home is going to be when you’re heavily pregnant. As soon as you get new from the hospital, it's normal to start buying baby clothes and toys. However, you’re thinking a bit far ahead because the number one priority is keeping yourself comfortable. This way, you don’t put your baby in danger and you maintain a healthy body, increasing the chances of a safe birth. Your home, therefore, has to change and accommodate you in a much larger and heavier state. The changes don’t have to be major but they must make a difference to your mood and physical comfort.

Your softer soles

Many things happen to your body when you’re carrying a child. Your ankles and feet will begin to swell and this causes so much discomfort that you don’t want to wear flip flops or slippers. You’d rather be barefoot as your skin is becoming more sensitive and hot. Consider placing a soft cotton area rug in your living room. It would be nice to have a few small cotton rugs in the hallway which leads from the landing. If you would rather have synthetics underneath your soles, nylon is at the top of the list. Acrylic, polyester and olefin are slightly coarser while nylon is smooth to the touch; great for your sensitive skin. Neutrals and vibrant colors might be too influential on your moods which at this point change regularly. It's better to stick with a beige, grey or baby blue tone.

Help in the morning

Sleeping is going to get tougher as you near the end of your pregnancy. For the final 3-2 months, you’ll be so big you will have trouble getting out of bed. You won’t be able to sleep on your side so essentially, you’re trying to get straight up. It's common to have back pain at this stage too. So what you need is a helping hand. These adjustable beds activate strong electric motors to slowly lift your upper body into an upright position. There are both single and double bed available, each with a unique design. If you’re the only one at home in the morning since your better half has gone to work, there won’t be anyone else to help you get out of bed safely. This kind of bed slowly gets you to a safe position before you can get up off the bed of your own accord.

Clear a mini-space

As your due date gets closer, you’ll be given some exercises to do at home. This is to keep your body healthy but also prepare it for a very challenging act. Clearing a mini-space in your home where you can lie or sit down to perform these exercises with your partner would do you a world of good. Remove anything and everything out of a room and add in the things that make you comfortable. A throw, an electric fan or some pillows and you have yourself a nice, simple, calming place to relax and think about the birth.

Don’t leave it too late to adjust your home so you feel happy and comfortable while pregnant. These small changes will be life-savers once you’re 8 to 9 months into your pregnancy.
