Top Destinations For a Winter Sun Break

Now that the holidays seem like a lifetime ago and we are well into the new year, it can be a good idea to start planning a vacation. Having something to look forward to can be a really lovely idea. Plus, some vitamin D can be a must for many of us at this time of year. So whether you’re looking for some winter sun or just want to get away sooner rather than later, here are some of the best destinations to book. Filled with good weather, good food, and plenty to do, these are all great destinations that need to be on your bucket list. Have you been to any of them before?

Cancun, Mexico

Whether you want plenty of partying on white sandy beaches or a luxury beach escape amongst gorgeous lush grounds at somewhere like Nizuc in Rivera Maya, then Cancun is for you. The twelve hour flight from the UK can be made completely worth it, especially if you opt for an all-inclusive package. It isn’t all about staying on your resort, though. You can even head into the jungle and go quad biking if you like some adventure too.

South Africa

The crime rates can put a lot of people off going to South Africa. But the reality is that it can be a great destination with fun for all of the family. A trip to visit the Kruger National Park is a must, as well as heading further south to the coast. The weather is pretty good all year round, and the food is like no other.

Canary Islands

The sun-drenched loveliness that is the Canary Islands is an option for some sun, without having to go too far from home. If you want to completely relax or do some hiking, then this can be the place for you. Not to mention some beaches like no other with black sands on the island of Lanzarote, for example.

Thailand

Thailand is rising in popularity as a holiday destination for people of all ages. And the reason being is that there are things for everyone. You could enjoy a more relaxed trip on the island of Phuket, where you can enjoy the beach, swimming, water sports, and boat trips. Or you could stay in-land in Bangkok, to really get immersed into the culture and food of the country.

Florida

How can the sunshine state not get a mention when talking about winter sun? The Caribbean-esque climate that the US state has is amazing throughout the year (though a little stormy around September and October). Beaches, shopping, good food, and theme parks galore; what more do you need?

Malta

Malta is a small country, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in culture and history. It is a wonderful destination for a world class holiday, though you do have to like stoney beaches, rather than sandy.

Have you got a preferred winter sun destination that you go to? It would be great to hear what your favourite is and if you have been to any of the ones here.
