Those of us who like to travel, know about the value of saving where possible. How else would we afford to visit all the destinations on our wanderlists? Plus, travelling on a budget allows you to see the authentic side of a country. Travelling for cheap takes you off the beaten track, and that’s what real travel is all about, isn’t it? Today’s destination is Brazil. We’re going to look at how to achieve this once in a lifetime trip on a budget. Because everyone deserves to see a place as amazing as this!

THINK TIME OF YEAR

Like with any holiday, consider what time of year you visit. As can be expected, tourist heavy times are going to cost you more. Supply, demand, and all that. The only trouble is that the popular times change depending on the country! You should already know to avoid our summer holidays. So, that rules out July-September. But, you should also consider the popular times for your destination. In Brazil, it’s important to avoid Carnival. There’s no denying that it’s an amazing sight, but it’s also the time everyone wants to visit. From February – March, prices are going to be sky high. Ideally, aim to visit between April – June. Tourism is slow at these times, and you’re more likely to get a good deal.

GETTING THERE

Brazil is a long way away. As such, you’re going to be paying a lot to get there, no matter what you do. But, it’s still important to make savings where you can. Look at cheap flights to brazil and see which ones suit. Bear in mind that it’s going to cost more to fly to hot spots like Rio. Opting to visit somewhere off the beaten track should lead to lower costs.

SLEEP LOCAL

The best way to sleep for cheap is to head for independent inns. Brazil has many of these, and the prices are usually low. This is especially the case if you book during quiet times. During these periods, small business owners should be willing to cut a deal with you. Don’t be afraid to haggle! Bear in mind that you may not be able to book this accommodation in advance. But, it’s still important you do your research before you go. Another option would be to couch surf. Those of you who are familiar with this way of travel will know the fantastic benefits. It’s cheap, and it doesn’t get much better than this for experiencing the way of life!

GET A TRUE TASTE

Another way to save yourself money is to hit the street markets when looking for food. Don’t be afraid to eat local cuisine. Heading to tourist aimed restaurants will cost you more. And, you won’t get to try authentic food that way! Instead, don’t be afraid to get stuck in. You’ll be able to try dishes like Coxinha and acaraje. And no, we won’t tell you what they are. You’ll have to find out for yourself!
