Best beaches in Koh Samui

Thailand is world famous for its beautiful beaches and attracts travelers from all over the world who arrive here looking for an exclusive beach vacation (including me- I LOVE Thailand!). Its beautiful beaches are what make the country a popular tourist destination. The beautiful island of Koh Samui has the kind of tropical coastline that you get to see only n beautiful ads. The stunning Koh Samui vacation rentals also leave you wanting more. Some of the most favorite beaches are to be found on the island. Those crystal blue waters against the fine white beach and green coconut trees lined one side make you feel like you are in a picture perfect spot. Enjoy wild beach parties or simply be part of nature, the choice is yours. There is a strip of sand that will suit everyone’s taste in beaches.

Here are some of the most spectacular, and my favourite, beaches of Koh Samui:

Choeng Mon Beach
Chongmoen area lies on the north-eastern tip of the island and is one of the mystical secluded bays. Watch the surf breaking on huge granite rocks or explore the quiet back roads. You can pick from a wide range of accommodations such as the boutique hotels or the 5-star properties. Look forwards to a relaxing beach vacation at short and secluded Choeng Mon Beach.

Chaweng Beach
Chaweng Beach is long and busy, and the powdery white stretch of sand is one of the most popular among the locals and the tourists. The wide bay of the beach has been the focal point of the island's tourism industry. The rocky headlands on either end border the five-kilometer long crescent. Chaweng offers a lively nightlife with a larger number of bars and restaurants that cater to every taste.

Lamai Beach
The Lamai Beach lies in the south of Chaweng, and the beach and village of Lamai are the favorite part of every tourist. Lamai, a quaint town offers all the amenities one can expect from a tropical beach vacation.  You can enjoy a broad range of dining options, convenience stores, food carts, and bars. The long stretch of beautiful beach is simply perfect for relaxing with your friends and family.

Bophut beach
Bophut lies between Bangrak and Maenam beaches, and the charming Fisherman's Village is one of the oldest spots on the island. It enjoys a distinction of being the most well-preserved place on the island. Look forwards to a nice and quiet swim along its thick yellowish sand lined by resorts. This is an ideal destination for those searching for a peaceful vacation on a beach.

Thongtakian Beach
Another of the most idyllic beaches on Samui is the Thongtakian Beach which is also known as Silver Beach. Placed between Chaweng and Lamai, the beach is definitely worth a visit. Enjoy snorkeling in its secluded crystal clear waters or lie down on its white powdery sand. Smaller boutique hotels line the unspoiled beach. Explore the hidden gem on the island.

Lipa Noi beach
Lipa Noi makes a convenient choice for all because of its closeness to the island's main car ferry pier. There are no corals or rocks in the waters, and the fine white sands make it one of the greatest beaches on the island, especially for the children, as the waters remain shallow for up to 100 meters out. You can pick from the more upscale resorts or the well-spaced bungalows.

Maenam Beach
The stunningly beautiful Maenam Beach is well known for its low-budget beach bungalows, and this makes it a popular among the tourists. Referred to as Samui’s backpacker beach, Maenam Beach runs for about 7 kilometers and is popular among windsurfers because of the currents and winds entering from the north side.

Silver Beach
The tropical beach paradise with a charming little bay extends 250m-long towards the north of Lamai Beach. It is also called Haad Thong Ta-khian or ‘the beach of the Ta-khian Trees.' With well-established hotels, resorts and restaurants such as Thongtakian Resort, Crystal Bay Yacht Club, and Thongtakian Resort, needless to say, one gets several different options. You can enjoy swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling on the beach.

Bang Por beach
Bang Por is certainly the laid-back beach in the north of Samui. Situated west to Maenam, Bang Por boasts of some of the most famous top-notch resorts such as Four Seasons. Extending for 11 kilometers, Bang Por is known to enjoy the longest sand strand in Samui. You can pick from varied accommodation choices on the beach which is lined with bars and restaurants.

Taling Ngam
Taling Ngam is considered to be one of the most picturesque parts of the island. Surrounded by jungle and Anthong Marine National Park, you can look forward to enjoying some of the most stunning sunsets on the west side of the beach. Stay at cheap bungalows or upscale resorts. You can drive to Nathon, the nearest town. Look forward to a lazy, tropical holiday at Taling Ngam beach.

Thong Krut Beach
Thong Krut Beach is well known for its peaceful shallow-water bay where you can charter long-tail boats out to neighboring islands. With new infrastructure coming up in the area, Thong Krut is in a state of flux. Enjoy seafood made with the freshest catch at popular restaurants while enjoying stunning sea views.

There could be more beaches added to the list of the top beaches in Koh samui, and there is a lot more to the coastline and many other beaches to choose from. However, the above are some good names to begin with, enjoy Thailand! Oh, and don't forget to pack everything you need for your trip to the beach
